Challenges

• Loading hundreds of images at once for the feeds on the app would cause out-of-memory error
• Recommendation algorithm to process hundreds of thousands of items from numerous sources

Solutions

• Decrease image to preview with small-sized thumbnails. Load the image in different qualities: after loading low quality images, we will load medium quality versions (and high quality versions if necessary) to minimize waiting time for users.
• Keep track of cache meticulously and remove cache for any unnecessary images while keeping only some to mitigate RAM overloading.
